Passengers at London Waterloo react to the 5.9% increase in fares

Image
Passengers at London Waterloo react to the 5.9% increase in fares And what's your reaction to the average 5.9% increase in fares today in England and Wales? Well I mean obviously everyone's cost has gone up, the electricity to run the railway and everything else but prices were very very high compared to the rest of Europe anyway. So it does cut a little bit because we've all got changes at the moment. It's not really happy to hear it kind of increasing like that. Yeah I think it's tough times we're living in and considering how much we depend on public transport these days it's not going to be well received I think by many to hear that it's increasing. Considering the current state of the trains as well, this mix with the price increase is probably going to be met with some resistance I would say. It's amazing, it just keeps going all the time you ...

Despite this, bills are still expected to rise by 20% because the Government's energy price guarantee, which caps House or bills at £2,500 annually, will rise to £3,000. The Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, is facing calls from opposition parties to keep the support at the current level in his spring budget next month. Let's get more on that, should we? And Goprit is here with us. So the ceiling's come down, but our bills are still going to go up. Yeah, it's a bit complicated. But when you add up all the numbers, actually the result is that households and businesses are worse off as a result of it. So this should be good news. Image
Windsor Framework has received a 'cautious welcome' in Northern Ireland All right, let's get the view now of Michelle O'Neill, because this time last week all the talk was of the PM's deal with the EU over the Northern Ireland protocol. This seemed to get a decent enough reaction from most parts, but of course the big question is what do the DUP do, the largest unionist party in Northern Ireland? They say they won't rejoin power sharing if they're not happy. Well, the largest party at Stormont is Shinfeng, and its leader there would have been First Minister. That's Michelle O'Neill. She joins us live now. Thank you very much for being on the programme this morning. Has Rishi Sineq negotiated a good deal for Northern Ireland? Roald Dahl would be 'APPALLED' at his books being rewritten | Jeffrey Archer

Image
Roald Dahl would be 'APPALLED' at his books being rewritten | Jeffrey Archer Good luck to the Queen I say. I think it was no more than common sense was it? I had the privilege of knowing Roald Dahl. Indeed, three of my short stories were on his tales of the unexpected. So I worked with him as well and he would be appalled. He'd be absolutely shocked. He'd say, I can see here him saying go to hell. You published my books or you can not publish them. You can see from that picture. He was a comudingly old thing and not easy to deal with. Geoffrey, on what basis can a publishing house change a book that's been in circulation? I think I checked. This book was written Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, writing 1964. Can they, well, how are they allowed to change the words that he used? I presume they approached the family in my own case. My publishers approached me som...
