'Authenticity' Captured Says Coronation Photographer | Royal Family News
There's sort of three photographs that one really ends up taking. There's the historical document, and then there are the sort of unique and special pictures of the day, and then there are private pictures as well, which we might call, you know, sort of family pictures, private pictures. So we had all three variations. I knew who I was taking them for, and I knew that I wanted to be able to stand by them and privately say, this is my work, and this is who they are. And, no, I'm very pleased with the results. I mean, it was very interesting while in there being able to see some of the pictures that hang on the walls of the palace, and actually even doing minor adjustments to what our photographs were going to be, having seen paintings on the wall, and thinking that's a nice touch, that, I mean, particularly the sort of inter-halter painting. And there was just a little detail that we thought, well, let's go and put that into our photograph and see how it works.
And all it was was a twist and an angle. That was the thing. The great thing is that you get some sort of interaction, so the pictures become much more authentic because it's their input and my input together, so it becomes a sort of collaboration. I want people to look at the photographs and feel that they are able to communicate with the person or the people that they are looking at and feel some connection. Music plays.
