The slow crawl across the M62, the snow trying everyone's patience. Some vehicles abandoned on the roadside. 14 centimetres of snow fell in parts of West Yorkshire and on the highest stretch of the motorway linking Leeds and Manchester, no one was going anywhere in a hurry. I didn't expect there to be as much snow on the road still. When I was going over Scamondon, the motorway, there was a lot more snow on the roads than I thought there was going to be. Got stuck twice. All broke free for some reason.

It was great for a couple of miles and then bang again. Huge diversion through Halifax, not to be between 21 and 24. You were wise. We were wise but it's taken forever. Going through all the little roads, top moored and all that. I'm glad I didn't go on the M62. Those were the daytime woes.

Overnight it had been much worse. I set off from Manchester at about 12 midnight and then got to Leeds at 10am this morning. So it was a 10 hour journey which was in fun. And then all the way there it was really strong winds that were pushing on my car and rattling it around. There was snow building up, randled the vehicles, women were still still. All they had with me was a half bottle of Vinto so it wasn't really the best thing. It was pretty hungry as the fallout.

So a 10 hour trip for Caleb and for Kelly Marie, a mere 9 hours. The snow was really coming down and it was really windy and there must have been 20, 25 jackknife lorries just stranded all the way up the hill so it was like you were having to do a bit of a helter skelter just to get round them. The snow was thanks to storm lorissa. The cold set to run into next week. The silver lining for drinkers at Tan Hill Inn on the Yorkshire Dales was that they had a very good excuse to stay put. Now technically at the moment we're in meteorological spring and have been since the start of this month. The only problem is no one told the weather.

This afternoon some melting in the sunshine. Before tonight the temperatures drop once again. Peter Lane, 5 News, West Yorkshire.
