Stephen Bear jailed for sharing sex video without consent | 5 News
In this country, it should be innocent until proven guilty. Refusing to accept has been found guilty. Reality TV personality Stephen Bear posed for a selfie. Lady in red!.and sang to reporters before being sentenced for sharing a sex video of him and his ex-girlfriend Georgia Harrison online without her permission in so-called revenge porn. At Chelmsford Crown Court, he was given 21 months in jail and put on the sex offender's register for 10 years. This shows the moment Bear was arrested by Essex police after he shared footage in which he and Georgia had consensual sex to his only fan's sight.
He had denied all charges but in December was found guilty of voyeurism and of two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress. Georgia says she made it clear she did not want him to send it to anyone. Now, with also a restraining order against him, the former Love Island star Georgia Harrison says she's got justice. Today's sentence is a vindication of what I've been put through and sends a clear message that the police and the courts take this matter very seriously. I hope that this puts anyone off committing this sort of crime. Judge Christopher Morgan said Bear had wished to exploit the economic value of the recording and caused Harrison extensive humiliation and embarrassment. One charity says that while conviction rates are low, it's a step in the right direction.
We're so far away from revenge upon being taken seriously in society or by the law and we have a lot more work to do. This is the start though. This is the start. This is a precedent. This is a statement. And hopefully this will sway people or at least make them think twice before they commit this crime on someone. Georgia Harrison, it's justice and the conviction, a message that these crimes are being taken seriously.
