PRESS CONFERENCE | Todd Cantwell | 04 Mar 2023

How did you find that to be a time? Yeah, I thought we were really good in the first half. I thought we scored three goals, looked really assertive in the game and I thought we had really good possession. You were a few games into your Rangers career, was that your best performance today on and off the ball? How are you feeling personally? Yeah, probably. I just feel like I'm growing into my role, I'm feeling fitter, match fit. Like I said to you, obviously you need to get those games in first and I feel like I'm now starting to come into my rhythm a little bit. So yeah, no I enjoyed it. You weren't in the team last weekend but you feel the performance today going forward that you hopefully can get that starting spot when a cup final like that comes around again? Yeah, definitely.

You know, I think as a player you want to play in all the games but you also have to realise that you're not the only player in the team. So yeah, listen I think today was important, it's been a tough week, the week that's just gone and it was really good to get out there and get another one. Has it been quite an eye-opening week just in terms of how fresh it is? It's got to be good ball, the team have been a really good run under the manager up until the cup final but it just sort of shows how much that one fixture means in this country. Yeah, I mean it's one of those things I think you have to kind of feel it and be there and sort of soak up the atmosphere a little bit and I think yeah, it's definitely an eye-opener for how big a game it is. But it's something that excites me, it's something that I want to be a part of and it's something that I want to be on the winning side of. You said it's been a tough week, is that the type of thing people can unite the group going forward? Yeah, I think it has, I think it has, there was a lot of hurt, a lot of disappointment, a lot of frustration and I think sometimes you need that, I think you need it to get the best out of each other and get the best out of ourselves as a team and I think the first half today we really took it to them and I think they felt a different level of us. It started the second half we were a little bit sloppy with the ball and I thought we would do a little bit, maybe it was a reflection of the first half I might as we put in but we slipped off it a little bit and we gave them too much time.

How that goal stood I don't know because I saw two hands on top of his shoulder but it's one of those things, we're disappointed we didn't get the clean sheet but we did slip off it for a little while. Todd for you personally, you said when you first came here you would need a wee bit of time to go up to speed but today's game you finished the game, really stronger it seemed to be that perhaps as others dipped you kept going and kept pushing on. Where do you think you are in terms of being where you want to be? I'm certainly not where I want to be yet, I'm taking good steps forward in terms of my fitness, in terms of my match fitness and also in terms of understanding my role within the team. It's different and it's something that is only going to get better as I get going, get more of an understanding with the players and I think I felt really good physically today. In terms of your experience so far, the club, the Ibrox and the league, how much are you enjoying that? Yeah, I enjoy it, I got told about the expectation before I came here and that is something that I thought I loved but it is cemented, I do love that, I love to win games, I want to be lifting titles here, I want to be lifting everything that's possible so for me personally the winning mentality is in there.
