"NONSENSE" - Marcus Rashford insists Man United "didn't give up" in 7-0 vs. Liverpool
Just losing against Liverpool is enough. It doesn't matter the score line when you lose a game against Liverpool and you lose a game against any of your biggest rivals. It cuts deep and you know it's not nice, it's never a nice feeling. But for me I just always remember how many games that we've won against them and they have the same feeling. So it's football, it's why everyone loves the game so much. Liverpool vs United is a unique game. It doesn't matter about form, it doesn't matter about individual's form.
It's a special game of football that's just decided in the 95 minutes that you're on the pitch. And you know going in at half time it could have been a different game. I mean I missed a chance from Luke's pass at 0-0, that could have been 1-0. We had two or three over opportunities. We probably should have went into the half time leading but we was down 1-0 and we wasn't in a bad position. We felt like we could still go there and create chances in the second half. But it's Liverpool that can take the game away from you and that's what happened.
We didn't give up. That's not since we were unorganised, communication was bad, that's why we conceded the goals. But it comes down to the fact that I believe that everyone was trying to get back into the game that much. We come away from the team's principles in and out of possession. I mentioned it after the game. I felt like the forwards was trying to press as just the forward unit. We weren't connected with the midfield and then the same with the midfield and the defence.
We were trying to get a grip of the game when it was 2-0, when it was 3-0. We were talking but I don't think we were really in agreement of what to do. The only thing we can do is learn from it.
